A couple weeks ago I posted one of my favorite easy low carb recipes – turkey, hummus, and avocado roll ups. I almost didn’t post it because it is honestly such an easy recipe. However, I am glad I did because I received tons of great feedback and many requests for more recipes just like it. Well your wish is my command 🙂
My second “no bread” roll up recipe is this easy peasy ham, swiss, and spinach roll up. Ham and swiss together is one of my favorite sandwich combinations. Instead of making a sandwich, when I get a craving, I make this roll up instead. It completely fulfills my craving for a classic ham and swiss but without all the carbs and calories. One of the things I am learning about sandwiches is unless the bread is REALLY good, like a ciabatta or artisan bread, then I would prefer not to waste calories on it. I find that regular sandwich bread just takes away from the taste of the filling and is never worth the calories. Just my opinion.
For this roll up I used organic uncured ham from Wegmans. I asked them to slice it thin but not so thin that it falls apart – it needs to hold the filling. Just with my other roll up recipe I decided to spread a tablespoon of hummus on the ham before placing the other ingredients on. This gives it a nice flavor but also helps the roll up stick together. Then I used organic swiss cheese that is also available at my Wegmans. Last, I threw a few baby spinach leaves on and rolled it up.
This roll up – as per My Fitness Pal calculations – only comes to 94 calories and 2 weight watchers points plus. I usually eat one for a snack or 2-3 for lunch.
Ingredients
- 1 slice uncured organic deli ham or use any ham you wish
- 1 tablespoon hummus
- 1/2 slice swiss cheese
- 4-5 baby spinach leaves
Instructions
- Spread hummus onto the slice of ham. Top that with swiss cheese and spinach leaves. Roll up and enjoy.

I love this idea. Works great. I used ham and turkey, gouda and havarti, hummus and cream cheese. I put 5 tooth picks in the roll, and cut each roll. My family loved this appetizer.

What an ingenious idea! Some of the best ideas are simple ones. I am following the food lovers fat loss system where you balance your carbs with proteins. This would be great because instead of the bread I can have pretzels. Thank you for this. I’m going to share it with my fellow food lovers!

This one is great. A friend introduced me to using Turkey, laughing cow lite spread on top of the meat and a pickle and rolling it up. It is a great little snack, but not many calories.
