And then there was Thanksgiving week!
Before I get into all my Thanksgiving week craziness I want to bring your attention to Plan to Eat’s awesome Black Friday sale. Typically, I talk about PTE later in the post but I didn’t want you to miss it just in case you are a blog skimmer. No worries I still wuuuuvvv you. Anyway, on Black Friday (this Friday just case you didn’t know) Plan to Eat is offering 50% off yearly subscriptions. That means you pay ONLY $19.50 for the whole entire year. People that’s only $1.60 a month! I bet you can find that in change right now under your couch. Seriously, it’s a steal. This is the time to subscribe to Plan to Eat. Go check it out.
Back to my post.
I don’t know about you but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. THE FOOD BABY! My family is Italian so Thanksgiving centers around lasagna more so than a turkey. That might seem weird but if your family is Italian-American you get it. We still have turkey but everyone lines up first for the lasagna. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm. Then there’s my Aunt Amy’s pie. OMG no words describe these pies. It’s pure heaven. Seriously, I think I just gained 10 pounds thinking about the lasagna and pie.
But…more than the food I love being around my family. My family is HUGE. When everyone is in town there is easily 40 -50 people squished into my parents house. It’s sweaty and awesome. I don’t know Thanksgiving any differently and wouldn’t change it for the world.
Let’s move onto my weigh in.

GW: 130
LWW: 144

PL: +1
I gained a pound this week so as usual I am hanging strong in the mid 140s. I really want to break out of the 140s by the New Year but this week I need to focus on not busting the scale after stuffing my face with lasagna and chocolate pie. Just saying…it’s the truth.
I’m not even going to pretend I will keep food under control on Thanksgiving. I mean I don’t plan to embarress myself however I’m not gonna make any promises once the Lambruso is cracked open. #truth
But one thing I will promise myself is to spend some extra time on the treadmill this week along with some additional strength training. At least then I won’t feel completely guilty.
Here’s my Thanksgiving week exercise schedule:
Monday – Saturday (Yup I am setting the exercise standards high this week)
Cardio
3 miles on my treadmill. I plan to power walk and run.
Core
50 crunches using my exercise ball
2 (30-second) planks
Legs/butt
50 squats
Arms
2 sets (8-reps) bicep curls using resistance bands
2 sets (8-reps) tricep extensions using 5 lb hand weights
Here is my meal plan.
Even though Thanksgiving is this week I don’t want to depend on leftovers. In the past, it’s not Thanksgiving day that kills me its all the darn leftovers. So I took time yesterday and prepped some food for the week.
I don’t have this meal plan up yet on Plan to Eat. If you subscribe to PTE then look for it tomorrow or Wednesday. Remember they are having a HUGE Black Friday sale so if you don’t subscribe yet then now is the time to do it. Just in case you have further questions or want to learn more about Plan to Eat read these other posts I put together.

How to Create a Custom Weight Loss Meal Plan with Plan to Eat
Breakfast
Make-ahead tips
- I will make a batch of smoothies tomorrow and keep them in the refrigerator and freezer. You can see my freezer instructions here.
Lunch
Make-ahead salad bar – new idea
Make-ahead tips
- I prepped ahead of time chicken, bacon, lettuce, and veggies. I stored the lettuce in a mason jar and the rest of the ingredients in pyrex glass containers. Typically, I make mason jar salads but I wanted to try a different way to have salad ingredients ready ahead of time.
Yogurt or fruit
Dinner
Creamy Tomato Soup with Leeks – new recipe
Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken
Leftovers (Thanksgiving and food I prepared)
Make-ahead tips
- I prepped the tomato soup and buffalo chicken yesterday. My mommy made the pasta fagioli and sent me home with a couple mason jars full. I also stored the tomato soup in mason jar containers and the chicken I kept in a glass bowl covered with plastic wrap. I also made the pasta for the soup ahead of time.
Most likely, I will freeze a couple containers of soup and some of the chicken.
That’s my plan for the week!

Oh no, I just saw your 50% off sale. Is there any chance this will be extended, or I can still sign up for it at that rate?

This is critical. By following a simple pre-planned and pre-made diet (i always cooked everything on Sunday for the following week and organized it into containers) and working out on top of running regularly led to me dropping 45lbs over the course of 7 months.

I just wanted to say, I’ve recently starting to follow your blog, thanks to my friend, Lisa. And bottom-line, I love it. Thanks a bunch! I’ve also signed myself up for Plan To Eat and what a great find! Thanks again. I’m at the end of my 30day trial and the Black Friday Sale will be perfect timing. I’m a big fan of the whole Mason Jar thing, I can’t get over how much on gee food stays fresh. Much less produce waste in my house. Plus, my kids see cut up fruit, being that the jars are completely see-thru, unlike plastic, and they grab and go. My diet involves doing away with all sugars and grains for now until I lose the weight then will add back a bit of whole grains. Thanks for all your great ideas..
