This summer I’m determined to use my oven as little as possible. Buffalo gets hot and humid this time of year so the thought of baking (and eating) a heavy casserole during the summer months seems very unappetizing. Isn’t funny the way weather controls our appetite? When it rains I want pizza, mac n cheese, and any other comfort food I can get my hands on. Snow makes me crave soups and chilis. A cool fall day has me running for pumpkin and cinnamon. And…the hot summer months get me in the mood for grilled food, salads, and no bake anything. Since we’re now entering the hot summer months casseroles and baked dishes will have to wait until September. Right now its grill and salad time and I can’t think of a better way to kick off the summer cooking season than with a creamy delicious cold pasta salad!! Mmmmmm.
I was contacted a couple weeks ago to try out the new Hellmann’s Carefully Crafted Dressing & Sandwich Spread. I’ve been a loyal fan of Hellmann’s products for YEARS. In fact, I can’t remember a time when there wasn’t a jar of Hellmann’s in my kitchen. So I was more than happy to try out the Hellmann’s Carefully Crafted Dressing & Sandwich Spread in this Asian Pasta Salad recipe provided to me by Hellmann’s. They have tons of super tasty recipes on their website so check it out if you’re looking for a new party favorite this summer.
I was able to find Hellmann’s Carefully Crafted Dressing & Sandwich Spread at Walmart.
I love that the Hellmann’s Carefully Crafted Dressing & Sandwich Spread is free from cholesterol, eggs, artificial colors & flavors. Readers ask me for egg-free mayonnaise alternatives all the time, especially this time of year when it pasta salad galore time. I have no problem suggesting Hellmann’s Carefully Crafted Dressing & Sandwich Spread because it worked absolutely perfect in this Asian pasta salad recipe. It’s creamy, coated the pasta perfectly, and didn’t dry out at all.
When I opened the jar I was surprised by the creaminess of the dressing & sandwich spread.
I scooped out 3/4 quarter cup into a bowl. Again, look at the creaminess!
Then I mixed in 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons rice vinegar, 2 teaspoons sesame oil.
This blended up perfectly. The original recipe suggests gluten free ingredients.
Next I added a 12 ounce bag of shredded napa cabbage and carrots. The original recipe called for 3 cups thinly sliced napa cabbage and 1 cup shredded carrots. I decided to make my life easier with a bag of pre-shredded ingredients. I’m all about easy.
I slowly stirred the cabbage and dressing together. FYI I could’ve ate these without the pasta. It’s sooooo good! The creaminess combined with the asian flavors is killer. I loved it! I was thinking a little sriracha would be great in it too.
Last, I stirred in the pasta. Again, the recipe recommended gluten-free so that’s what I used. It was good. I’m sure you could use regular pasta if you like but if you live a gluten free lifestyle then use gluten-free pasta.
After all the ingredients were combine I snuck a bite. You’re suppose to let it chill for an hour but I couldn’t wait. IT. WAS. SOOOO. GOOD! I just love all the Asian flavors, the crunch from the veggies, the hearty pasta, and the delicious creaminess of the Hellmann’s Carefully Crafted Dressing & Sandwich Spread. This Asian Pasta Salad would be a hit at any summer barbecue or just to have in your refrigerator all week for lunches or an easy dinner.

Hi! I wan wondering if you think I could substitute greek yogurt for the mayo dressing in this recipe. I’ve done it in a few things like chicken salad but not sure if it would work with this. Thank you!

Yes you could probably use 1/2 greek yogurt.
