Frequently Asked Questions
Hey there! Below is a list of the most common questions I get on Organize Yourself Skinny. If you don’t see an answer to your question here please send an email to [email protected] and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
General
Where do you live?
I live in a suburb just outside of Buffalo, NY. This is the hometown where I was raised. I’m a Buffalo girl to the bone so you’ll find lots of “buffalo” inspired recipes on my blog. My favorites are Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken, Buffalo Macaroni and Cheese, and Buffalo Chicken Chili.
Do you have a family?
Yes. I live with my soon to be husband Mike, 2 tweener girls, and the most adorable bullmastiff on the planet.
Do you work outside the home?
No. Organize Yourself Skinny is my full-time job so I work from home. Most days it’s just me and my doggy. However, I worked outside the home for 15 years (with little kids) so I’m very familiar with the crazy busy life of a working parent. You can read more about my blogging life below.
Weight loss
How much weight have you lost?
Since starting my weight loss journey in 2010 I’ve lost a total of 40lbs. However, in the last 2 years I’ve put back on 15lbs – I have ups and downs just like everyone else – I’m human. Currently I’m back on track and plan to lose the last 20lbs this year. I share my weigh-in in my weekly meal prep post so take a peak at the latest one to see where I’m at.
So, you’re still on your weight loss journey?
Yeppers. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s this – losing weight is a life-long process – or journey. It’s filled with with roads, hills, valleys, and everything in between. There’s never an end destination. It’s a lifestyle that’s with you forever.
Do you still have weight loss challenges?
Ummmm, YES! Like I said, I’m human. We all go through different seasons of life – somedays we got it and others not so much. The biggest difference between the Tammy then and now is I keep going. I never give up.
I have so much weight to lose, where do I start?
My biggest piece of advice is to focus on one habit at a time. You’re not going to overhaul your entire life in 1 day. Most likely, if you’re anything like me, you’re starting with decades of bad habits to break. Trust me, I get it. I reccomend starting with my 7-day getting started on your weight loss journey free challenge. This will give an overview (and some direction) on getting starting with the strategies I use to stick to a healthy lifestyle.
If you’re looking for a complete program, and more support, then I suggest checking out the Organize Yourself Skinny Ecourse. This 8-module (31 lesson) course completely walks you though the weight loss process. It includes meal and exercise plans, tons of bonuses, and a supportive community. You can read more about the ecourse here.
Also, check out the “start here” page. This page goes over all the information found on the Organize Yourself Skinny blog and helps you decide what will best meet your needs.
The good news is, you can do this! And there’s plenty of tools here that can help!
I’m on Weight Watchers but don’t see the points listed on your newer recipes.
When I first started my blog I shared Weight Watchers points as a courtesy. However, since starting my blog, Weight Watchers has changed their program 3 times and I simply can’t keep up. I’m not a Weight Watchers member – I used My Fitness Pal to track food – but I understand many of my readers are so I do include all the nutritional information. This makes it easier for you to figure out the Weight Watchers points for each recipe.
Meal Prep
How do I get started with meal prep?
If there’s one bit of advice I’d give someone looking to change their eating habits, reduce stress during the week, and to start organizing their life it’s meal prep. I have a few ways to help you get started with meal prep. If you’re just looking for some basic information then check out this beginner meal prep post I put together or this meal prep page that lists out all me meal prep posts.
If you’re looking for structured information sent to your email then check out my 7-day “getting started” with meal prep email series.
If you’re ready to jump in a learn everything about meal plan then I high recommend my brand new meal prep ecourse that’ll be available very soon! You’ll be a meal prepping ninja after going through this ecourse!
What is your favorite meal prep recipes?
The meal prep recipe I make most often, so I guess it would be my favorite, are mason jar salads.
This Protein Power Mason Jar Salad recipe is my absolute favorite.
You can see my mason jar salad tutorial for more step by step information.
I do like meal prep bowls too like this Greek Shrimp Bowl and this Chicken Burrito Bowl.
What if it’s just me, can I still meal prep?
Yes of course. Here’s a post I put together on how to meal prep for 1-2 people.
Recipes
Do all your recipe have nutritional information?
Yes, I share the calories, fat, saturated fat, protein, carbs, and sugar for each recipe.
Do you have vegetarian recipes?
I don’t have a lot of vegetarian recipes but I have some – you can see them all here. Please keep in mind, I teach more strategy than offer recipes. So, all the strategies I cover on my blog can be used for a vegetarian lifestyle.
Why don’t you share more recipes?
Like I said, I’m more about strategies. I like to share recipes but I’m more about teaching you the tools so you can fit the healthy life into your busy life.
